The Strength Within my mother

As I was a child, I would find myself following my mother's tailcoats quite frequently. I would look up to her as if she was a mighty titan in the eyes of my innocent eyes. Even as a woman of the household, she would govern the household as if she truly was the leader. She did it in a gentle manner that would never strike fear into the heart of my small body either. Everything she would do left an impact on me. She went through many hardships in her life at a young age. She had to start taking care of herself at the ripe age of sixteen. Her family grew up with little money and barely had a roof to keep up over their heads. Food was scarce on her table and she had to be recruited for a job when she was only fifteen. She had no time for sports or even clubs as she was too busy working to enjoy her teenage life. Despite her struggles in her teen life, they would never amount to her adult years.

She had to support herself in her own college education. She was the only known member of her family that successfully graduated from college. She surpassed her older sister in her own studies and created an own life for herself. She struggled immensely with student debt but that didn’t stop her passion for continuing on in her life. She taught me to never give up even with the little chance you have in succeeding. I always took her determined words to heart and still believe in them to this day. Her biggest challenge in life was finding a place for herself in society. As a freshly graduate student from college deep into debt, not to mention a poor background, many people didn’t want to take her for a job. She simply wished to become a teacher during her day and age. With her substantial debt many jobs didn’t feel the need to accept her. She was a first-year teacher with no experience in education. Personally, I wouldn’t even hire her. The little experience she had would be a drawback for her and her peers. She went on for a few months without a job. Her debt still increasing and showing no signs of going down either. She soon met my dad while job searching in a small town. He was a small farmer with only little acres of lands at the time. He was in a case of debt too as he was a drop out in college. During their young romance, my mother was hired for a job. After many years of stressing for the future, she settled down. She started her relationship with my father in nothing but a small camper. They lived like this for twelve years before deciding that they were ready for their own house. With a house loan sent to them, they found themselves living below mid class with a house to them and their children. My mother still struggled with her student loans and with children in her life, she struggled more. She still remained patience with us and chose to remember we were just kids who were immature. She dearly loved us as a mother should and did the best with the little income she had. Her debt has still never left her and I’m afraid it will never leave her. She still gives us money when we ask despite knowing her failing bank account. Her smile still bright on her face when handing us a twenty-dollar bill. Her money problems will never leave, but the love for her children won’t.

My mother has struggled with money since she was even born. That curse followed her into her teen years and college years. Despite that, she still wished the best for her family. She would sit us down and explain why we may struggle in life and how it is okay. She is always there to reassure us and to make sure our own happiness is before hers. Her strength within her powers me to become a better person for myself in the future. She has shown that you can achieve far in your life with little amounts. She is still one of my biggest idols in my eyes. I wish nothing but the best for her in the end.
