In each cube the face area = 8 x 8 = 64 in^2
Each cube has 6 faces but when you glue two cubes together you lose 2 faces (where the glue is).
number of outside faces = 3 x 6 - 2 x 2 = 14
Surface area = 14 x 64 = 896 in^2
