3(x + 1) = 6
3x + 1 = 6
3x = 5
x = 5/3
Describe the mistake in the work shown below.

they forgot to distribute the 3 over to the 1. the correct work should look like:
3(x+1)=6
3x+3=6
3x=3
x=1
