I need help with direct quotation.

With direct quotation, you use brackets “ [ ]” when changing part of a quote. Use ellpsis when removing part of a quote. “…” then put (authors last name, page number.)

Example: ORIGINAL TEXT: I said I was too busy to help Diana with her math homework
Author: John Appleseed
Page number: 84

Direct quote: “[he] said [he] was too busy to help [her]…” (Appleseed, 84).

(IN ESSAYS DONT PUT THE COMMA IN THE CITATION!)
