EMERGENCY!! TIME CRUNCH!! PLEASE HELP!!

Find the equation of the line, the following information. You may leave your
answer in slope-intercept form.
Passes through (3,-10) and is perpendicular to the line that passes through (-2, 2) and
(-8, 1).

Answer:

y=-6x+8

Explanation:

(-2,2) and (-8, 1)


m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m represents your slope.

so
m=(1-2)/(-8-(-2))

this gets you 1/6 (this is your slope from these two points but we ened to find the perpendicular slope)

all you do is take the is make 1/6= -6 (this your perpendicular slope, basically just take the reciprocal of the original slope)

so now use the equation y-y1=m(x-x1) ---> the y1, and x1 represent the place holders for the point (3,-10)

y+10=-6(x-3) (move the 10 over)

y=-6(x-3)-10

y=-6x+18-10

y=-6x+8
