38. The area is 12x-8

40. The area is 39-13y

Explanation:

38. To find the area of a rectangle, you multiply length times width. You have to multiply 4(3x-2) which is 12x-8

40. The area of a triangle is base times height divided by 2. You have to multiply
(13(6-2y))/(2) which is
(78-26y)/(2) to then get 39-13y.
