"If there were no atmosphere, the tiny molecules of gases and dust particles in the air break up and scatter the light of the sun into various colours"

This is something i read in my book and now i am totally confused, thinking how would it happen,can someone explain it to me please.​

For this, u must be familier to the phenomenon of refraction, which the bending to light when it passes from one medium to another and when there will be no atmosphere then for sure density of every 1mm will be different as well this varied density results in refraction and it will cause the white light of sun to get scattered in its 7 constituent colours. Why? because the wavelength of all of its seven colours is different and thus their bending will also be.

if there was no atmosphere,the tiny molecules of gases and dust particles will gather together and rain down while the sun shine on the particles making the color glow because the colors are combining into various of colors looking like the galaxy.
