What does "when x is any real number" mean?

Hey there!

Real numbers include all numbers that are not complex like infinity or square root of negative integers. So, if you've a question where they ask 'when x is any real number' then it refers to all the numbers in a number line ⇨ natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers & irrational numbers.
