Answer: Width - 10.5 inches, Length - 21 inches

Explanation:

To find the width of the rectangle, we first need to find the length.

Length = L

Width = 1/2L

Perimeter is when you add up all the sides. So we need to add length to length and width to width.

L + L = 2L

1/2L + 1/2L = L

Now we add up our lenghts and widths:

L + 2L = 63

Combine like terms:

3L = 63

Divide both sides by 3:

L = 21

The length is 21 inches.

Now we plug the length value in to get the width:

1/2(21) = 10.5

The width is 10.5 inches

The dimensions of the rectangle is 10.5 x 21 inches (width x length)

To check this, we just add all the values up:

10.5 + 10.5 + 21 + 21 = 63

Explanation:

length = x

width =.5x

perimeter = 63 in

the perimeter of a rectangle is the are around, so 2 widths and 2 lengths. therefore:

x + x + .5x + .5x = 63

combine like terms

3x = 63

divide by 3 to solve for x

x = 21

length = x = 21 in

width = .5x = 10.5 in

check your answer by substituting your answers into your original equation:

21 + 21 + 10.5 + 10.5 = 63

I hope this helps!
