A jewelry box has 10 items. Of those, half are necklaces. Two-fifths of the others are bracelets. The rest are rings. How many rings are there?

Explanation:

10 / 2 = 5 necklaces

(5/5) x 2 = 2 bracelets

10 - 5 - 2 = 3 rings

Total number of jewelry = 10

number of necklace = 1÷2 * 10 = 5

number of bracelets = 2÷5 * 5 = 2

Total of both = 5+ 2= 7

remainder = Total jewelry - sum of necklace and bracelet

remainder = 10 - 7

= 3

therefore there are three rings in the jewelry box
