The perimeter of a parallelogram is 56 meters. The width of the parallelogram is 4 meters less than its length. Find the length and the width of the parallelogram.

Explanation:

l = length

w = width

perimeter = 2×l + 2×w = 56

w = l - 4

2×l + 2×(l-4) = 56

2×l + 2×l - 8 = 56

4×l = 64

l = 16 meters

w = l - 4 = 16 - 4 = 12 meters
