Now first work for the numerator.

=
(a^(2) - 2^(2) )/(a - 2)

numerator is in the form of a^2 - b^2 formula , SO,

=(a - 2)(a + 2)/a-2

(a-2) of both numerator and denominator gets cancel.

=(a + 2)
