How can you help a patient to understand how beneficial carbohydrates are to health when they think eating carbohydrates will cause weight gain? What types of foods would you recommend they choose to get their daily carbohydrate intake?

Answer:

I would help them by telling them that there are many different foods that have carbohydrates so therefore there is healthy low fat food they can eat. I would suggest, Brown bread- because it is low fat and has carbohydrates, vegetables- they have about 13g of carbohydrates, fruit, peas, nuts, chia seeds and whole grain food
