first arrange the like terms together:

x-11=19-2x

x+2x=19+11

then add or subtract the like terms:

3x=30

then make x the subject of formula:

x=30÷3

x=10

after that substitute 10 for x to solve for one:

( you can take any equation form the two for this)

y= 10-11

y=-1

to see if it's correct you can check with the other equation:

y=19-2×10

y=19-20

y=-1

thereby it is correct.

2x + y = 19 (2)

(1)-(2): (-x+y)- (2x+y) = -11-19
-x+y-2x-y = -30
-3x = -30
x = -30/-3
= 10

sub x=10 into (2)

2(10) + y = 19
y= 19-20
y= -1

x=10, y= -1
