Efficiency is calculated as 35 / 125 * 100, which is 28%.

The ratio of the useful work accomplished by a machine or in a process to the total energy consumed is known as efficiency.

To get the percentage, divide the useable output, which in this example was 35 J, by the total input given to the machine, which was 125 J in this case, and multiply by 100.

We could have just not multiplied it by 100 if we didn't need the percentage.
