Fractions

When dividing fractions, get the reciprocal of the divisor (the number by which the dividend is being divided). The reciprocal is obtained by inverting the fraction. After getting the reciprocal, proceed with multiplication, instead of division:

  • \large\tt (7)/(8) / (1)/(2) = (7)/(8) * (2)/(1) = (14)/(8)

- Then simplify

  • \large\tt (14)/(8) = 1 (3)/(4)

Therefore,
\large\tt(7)/(8) รท
\large\tt(1)/(2) is
\large\tt 1(3)/(4)

Answer: 7/4

Explanation:

When dividing fractions, it's the same as mutliplying by the reciprocal. The reciprocal of
(1)/(2) is 2. Therefore, you would multiply
(7)/(8) and 2.

(7)/(8)*2=(7)/(4)

Now, we know that 7/4 is the answer.
