Answer:

15%

Skills needed: Percentages

Explanation:

1) First, let's find out the number of empty seats, and then go onto finding the percent of empty seats.

---> There are 1000 seats, and 850 are full:

------>
100-850=150 empty seats

2) In order to get a percentage, let's first make a fraction:

(150)/(1000) (empty seats over the total # of seats)

--->
(15)/(100) is the simplified form, and this just means 15%.

(Remember:
x\%=(x)/(100) --> 2% =
(2)/(100))

Here's the solution ~

Number of empty seats is equal to ;

{ \qquad{ \sf{ \dashrightarrow}}}  \:  \: \sf \:1000 - 850

{ \qquad{ \sf{ \dashrightarrow}}}  \:  \: \sf \:150

Percentage of empty seats is ;

{ \qquad{ \sf{ \dashrightarrow}}}  \:  \: \sf \: (150)/(1000) * 100

{ \qquad{ \sf{ \dashrightarrow}}}  \:  \: \sf \: (150)/(10)

{ \qquad{ \sf{ \dashrightarrow}}}  \:  \: \sf \: {15}{} \%
