The equivalent resistance of 3 resistors in parallel is given by:

R = (1)/((1)/(R_1) +(1)/(R_2)+(1)/(R_3) )

R = (1)/((1)/(2\ \varOmega) +(1)/(3\ \varOmega)+(1)/(5\ \varOmega) )

R = (1)/((31)/(30\ \varOmega) )

R = (30)/(31)\ \varOmega \approx 0.97\ \varOmega
