There are two ways to solve the problem. First, you can use the formula,
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) ) Plugin each of the values and solve. This gets you
(4-(-6))/(1-(-1)), or
(10)/(2). Then simplify to get 5. Or, to solve you can simply count. In between 4 and -6, there are 10 units and in between 1 and -1, there are 2 units. So, that is 10/2 which is 5.
