Two people who I think were important in the American independence movement were John Smith and George Washington. Although John Smith was not involved in the Revolution, he was instrumental in America's struggle for independence because, without Smith's leadership, the colonists would have been too disorganized to survive. Without him, the outcome of the colony's success would have been very different. George Washington is important because he won the last great battle of the American Revolutionary War. The struggle for independence was crucial and the colonies would not have prospered without the leadership of George Washington.
