Nathan is building a tree house. He needs wooden boards that are 16.45 feet, 7.3 feet, and 12.8 feet in length. Nathan needs to make sure he buys enough wood to finish the project. What is the closest estimate of the total length, in feet, he needs? A. 30 B. 35 C. 38 D. 40

Answer: C = 38

Explanation:

16.45 + 7.3 + 12.8

= 36.55

Closest estimate = 38

Since (B) 35 would be to little.

Explanation:

When you add them all together you get 36.55 ft, getting rid of choices A and B cause thats too little wood, leaving both C and D. Both answers could be correct if it didnt say to get the closest estimate, which would be 38, because 38 ft is closer to 36.55 ft than 40 ft. Dont forget to add your unit of measurement!
