Answer:

5-(-9) = 14

-6-(-3) = -3

Explanation:

So for the first one -1-(6), when you have two negatives next to each other then it turns into a plus. So when it turns into a plus. So when it turns into a plus we will have 5+9. And here we have the same signs so we are gonna add and 5+9=14. So the answer is 14.

Now for the second one -6-(-3), the same thing when you have two negatives next to each other then it turns into a plus. And when it turns into a plus we will have -6+3. Now although there is a plus sign we are not gonna add because both number do not have the same sign. So we are gonna subtract and take the sign of the bigger number. And now -6+3=-3 so our answer is -3.
