If oranges are called oranges why aren’t apples called reds?

The earliest known recorded use of orange the fruit in English is from the 1300s and came to us from the Old French word orenge which adapted from the Arabic nāranj, from the Persian nārang, from the Sanskrit nāranga ("orange tree"). And the word apple came from the 17th century chandlerstin family
