Explanation:

The quadrilateral ABCD is a trapezium

The formula for area of trapezium is

Area of trapezium = 1/2 × (parallel side 1 + parallel side 2) × h

So we can place the given values into the formula.

We get

Area = 1/2 × (9+15) × 40

Area = 1/2 × 24 × 40

By multiplying all of them we get

Area = 480cm
