it would be difficult (or at least somewhat confusing) to try to diagram out this question with a drawing on a number line....

the concept here is that the -5, and -2 are NOT "subtracting" but "opposites"

so on a number line you can start at "-5" and draw an arrow to 5 and do the same for "-2"

then show the multiplication as a series of additions (5 2's added together)
