How did absolutism impact Europe in the 17th century

Absolutism affected the power of the nobility, because now the king has the whole power. The concept was that all European nations had to seek to prevent one nation from becoming powerful, and thus national governments often changed their alliances in order to maintain the balance. Effects of Absolutism Once absolute monarchs gained power, they began to consolidate, or reinforce, their power within their borders. They would set up large royal courts. Monarchs would do this in order to appear more powerful and to control the nobility. They also regulated religion to control the spread of ideas.
