Answer:

Copy the triangle. Rotate it 180° clockwise. Place it on top of the original triangle so that their diagonals are touching.

This will form a rectangle with length of 9 units and width of 2 units.

Area of a rectangle = width x length

= 2 x 9

= 18 square units

Given the area of the triangle is half the area of the rectangle,

area of triangle = 18 ÷ 2 = 9 square units
