Using the tangent ratio in the right triangle to find JL

tan x =
(opposite)/(adjacent) =
(JL)/(KL) =
(JL)/(10) = 0.8 ( multiply both sides by 10 )

JL = 8

Then

LM = JL + JM = 8 + 16 = 24 cm
