What are surds? how many types of surds are there?​

  • When we can't simplify a root under variable further or we can't remove the root sign that is called surd.It may be a square root or cube root or n th root .They are especially called irrational numbers.

Ex:-


\\ \rm\longmapsto √(9)=3Hence its not a surd.

but

.


\\ \rm\longmapsto √(3),√(7)Are surds.

There are six types of surds such as :

  1. Simple surds
  2. Pure Surds
  3. Similar Surds
  4. Mixed Surds
  5. Compound Surds
  6. Binomial Surds.
