first we simplify 4(2x + x – 3) – 3x + 3.

1. combine like terms: 4(3x - 3) + 3 - 3x

if you use the commutative property for the numbers outside the parenthesis you can already see that 4(3x - 3) + 3 - 3x is equivalent.

2. distributive property: 12x - 12 + 3 - 3x

3. combine like terms again: 9x - 9

this shows that 9x - 9 is another equivalent expression.

then 9(x-1) is literally just 9x - 9 factored so yea
