(On Rationalizing )

= (1)/( √(2) + 1) * ( √(2) - 1)/( √(2) - 1 )

$= \frac{ √(2) - 1 }{( { √(2) )}^(2) - {(1)}^(2) }$

= ( √(2) - 1)/(2 - 1)

= ( √(2) - 1)/(1)

= √(2) - 1(ans)
