subject-Does homework help kids learn?
Sir,
It is through your esteemed newspaper that I would like to draw the kind of attention of the general public on the topic of ,"Does homework help kids learn?" . I write to you to put forward my views on the same topic which ,I think, can help the society,to differ from the general stereotypes.
Homework ,a word with conflicting connotations.
For a teacher,it might be a way to pose the idea of learning the topic in a better way for the students but has anyone ever ask us,the students? how does it feel to attend a 8 hours long school and then complete the homework which takes myraid hours to complete and live through our teenhood? well, let me , a student,a teenager, tell you that it's knackering.
We know not whether to learn our lessons or complete our assignments given to us by our teachers with inquisitive deadlines.
undeniably , the whole process of homework was initiated to help us , students, to ace the lessons by practicing them at home and I firmly am positive about the intention of the whole process which is ," practice makes a man perfect" , and here is where it all went wrong. Our system could not differentiate between a ephemeral edict and a stagnant process which is ruining the mental health of the students.
The teachers, the authorities, no more assign us homework to us,to latch on to the lesson taught, but as a mere tradition to satisfy themselves and the parents about the syllabus being completed.
According to their math ,the homework given is directly proportional to the knowledge gained by the student and vice versa which is the most phantasmagoric notion I've ever come across.
To conclude my point , I'd say that ,we ,as a society, need to be aware of the fact that learning doesn't have to be a enervating task but a congenial chore and for that we need to leave this traditional stereotype of measuring homework as a scale of knowledge gained. That's when , we'll be able to see the changes ,the happiness on a student face , and the start of the true process of the word,'learning'.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
Robert
