Answer: Actual distance = 37.5 miles

Explanation:

Let x be the actual distance

Given information

Length on map = 7.5 inches

Scale = 1 inch : 5 miles

Set up proportion

(7.5)/(x) =(1)/(5)

Cross multiply to convert out of fraction form

7.5*5=1*x

\boxed{x=37.5}

Hope this helps!! :)
