-9x+y=11

If you notice that these two equations can be easily worked out with since 9x (from the first equation) and -9x (from the second equation) can be easily eliminated. So, you will start adding the left numbers/variables from the two equations.

9x+2y=-5

-9x+y=11

2y+y=3y (every variable has a secret/hidden 1)

-5+11=6

3y=6

(divide 6 by 3)

y=2

Replace the value of y into ANY of the equations from the question. (I would be using the second one)

-9x + y = 11

-9x+2=11

(now just do simple algebra)

-9x=9

x=-1
