Solve this equation by completing the square p^2 + 16p - 17 = 0

Answer: p=1

Explanation:


p^(2)+16p-17=0\\p^(2)+16p=17\\1^(2)+16(1)=17\\1+16=17\\p=1

(p-1)(p+16)

Also, here's the cross method in completing the square that I tried in the file attachment. I haven't done this in a while, so this may not be neat.
