I think we are still in close time to judge Gandhi objectively but history will not be too kind for long. There are some pitfalls in this great man. To me, they are:

Gandhiji was obstinate in his views: While Nehru was considered to be a compromise leader and Patel was a pragmatic one, Gandhi was fiercely obstinate in his views - be it his tools, his views on sex or economy
Gandhi was conservative in his approach on the economic solution: He believed in agrarian economy and that India lived in villages. While a lot many Indians lived and still live in villages, the farm sector would not have absorbed so many labour and land-holdings would have become marginalised to the extent of being unproductive. There would have been chaos and unemployment were there not growth in manufacturing or services.
Gandhi was not neutral in his choice: He was definitely biased towards Nehru; he had his own reasons that Nehru was modern and held a liberal view and well respected in the world. Other Congress leaders were more aligned to Patel as their choice of PM. Similarly, Gandhi had an inherent hatred to Subash Chandra Bose. He despised the ways of revolutionary leaders like Bhagat Singh. In short, it was either My way or Highway. He was not democratic.
He was not a strong negotiator: When the British wanted India’s support for WW2, he should have strongly negotiated for India’s freedom immediately after the war and the British would have probably yielded. If not, India could have revolted and they could not have fought wars on multiple fronts. It took us another 6 years to get the independence. A strong leader should know where he can push his agenda.

He was a bad husband and bad father. He refused permission to his son to remarry after the latter became a widower. He refused medical help to Kasturba saying it is against god’s will to take medicine. He tested his will power in the matter of sexual abstinence by sleeping between two girls (one of them his niece).
