How many days will the food last for if there are 100 students,

I know its 7.5 but why do people x the 150 and 5 i dont get it

150 s take 5 days to finish food

if there are 100 s how many days will the same amount of food take

so 150 students × 5 days = 750 equation 1

100 students × x days= 100x equation 2

750 from 1 = 100 x from 2

750÷100=x

x=7.5 days
