He instantly sets the audience on edge with warnings of doom and eternal fire. He continues repeating this to get out of purgatory, then claims there is a technique to do so. As he puts it, "You know all of those horrible things I just mentioned? You can avoid those. You can return to God, and you will receive salvation. If you do not, then you will suffer internal doom. "
