Answer:

y = -5/14 -13/7

Explanation:

First find the slope

m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m = (1 - -4)/(-8 - 6)

= (1+4)/(-8-6)

= 5/-14

=-5/14

Point slope form is

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

y - -4 = -5/14(x-6)

y+4 = -5/14(x-6)

We want the equation in slope intercept form y = mx+b

Distribute

y+4 = -5/14x + 15/7

Subtract 4 from each side

y+4 -4= -5/14x + 15/7-4

y = -5/14x +15/7 - 28/7

y = -5/14 -13/7
