The area of the figure shown is 37.5cm^2, or 37 1/2cm^2, depending on what it wants from you.

Explanation:

Break the shape into a triangle with measurements of 2.5, and 6.

And then the Rectangle with measurements of 6, and 5.

area of a rectangle is w*l so 6*5=30in

Area of a triangle is b*h*1/2 or b*h divided by 2 (either way both are the same, chose what makes you comfortable, I will use the first one.),

2.5*6*1/2

2.5*6=15

15*1/2=7 1/2cm or as a decimal 7.5cm

Now add the two for the full area, 30+7.5=37.5cm
