Answer:

7/16

Explanation:

1st bag

2 black balls, 1 white ball, and 1 red ball.

P(white) = white/total = 1/4

2nd bag

2 black balls, 1 white ball, and 1 red ball.

P(red) = 1/4

The events are independent, so multiply the probabilities

P(white 1st bag, red 2nd bag) = 1/4*1/4 =1/16

To find the probability of white or red we cannot double count both

P(white or red) = P(white) + P(red) - P(white , red)

=1/4 + 1/4 - 1/16

= 4/16 + 4/16 - 1/16

=7/16
