(x - 5) = 9/7 (y -5) Multiply both sides by 7

7x - 35 = 9y - 45 Add 45 to both sides

7x + 10 = 9y

y = x - 2

7x + 10 = 9(x - 2)

7x + 10 = 9x - 18

7x +10 + 18 = 9x

28 = 2x

x = 14
