The perimeter of a rectangle is 18cm . if the length is (x+2), find it's width.​

W = 7 - x

Explanation:

The perimeter is P= 2L + 2×W , where L is the length and W is the width.

If L = (x+2) , replacing L with the expression x+2 we have

P= 2×(X+2) + 2W ⇔ 18 = 2x + 4 + 2W ⇔ 2W =18 - 2x - 4 ⇔ 2W = 14 - 2x

⇔ W = 7 - x
