You used 6 3/4 cups of sugar while baking muffins and nut bread for a class party. You used a total of 1 1/2 cups of sugar for the muffins. Your nutbread recipe calls for 1 3/4 cups of sugar per loaf. How many loaves of nutbread did you make?

Answer:

Explanation:

1. Convert to decimals.

6(3)/(4) = 6.75 cups of sugar - Total Sugar

1(1)/(2) = 1.50 cups of sugar - Muffin Sugar

1(3)/(4) = 1.75 cups of sugar - Nutbread sugar

2. Subtract muffin sugar from total sugar

6.75 cups total sugar - 1.50 cups fir muffins = 5.25 cups remaining

3. Divide remaining sugar by amount used per loaf nutbread

5.25 cups sugar / 1.75 cups for each loaf nutbread = 3

3 Loaves of nutbread were made.
