Solution: 7.5x

Explanation: start off by distributing by multiplying 3 by the variable and decimal in the parentheses (x + 4.5) to end up with 3x + 13.5 = 36. Subtract 13.5 from both sides so 13.5-13.5 and 36-13.5 which gets you 3x = 22.5. Finally, divide both sides by the same factor so 3x divided by 3 and 22.5 divided by 3 which leads to your solution after simplifying x = 7.5x.

Given Equation :

  • 3(x + 4.5) = 36

To Find :

  • The value of x

Using distribute property :

\qquad \dashrightarrow \sf \: 3(x) + 3(4.5) = 36

\qquad \dashrightarrow \sf \: 3x + 13.5 = 36

Subtracting 13.5 from both sides :

{ \qquad \dashrightarrow \sf \: 3x + 13.5 - 13.5= 36 - 13.5}

\qquad \dashrightarrow \sf \: 3x = 36 - 13.5

\qquad \dashrightarrow \sf \: 3x = 22.5

Dividing both sides by 3 :

\qquad \dashrightarrow \sf \: (3x)/(3) = (22.5)/(3)

\qquad \dashrightarrow \bf \: x = 7.5
