msin²x+cos²x=m-1

since the interval are 0 and π/4

Therefore

msin²(0)+cos²(0)=m-1

m(0)+1=m-1

1=m-1

m=2

use π/4 now

msin²(π/4)+cos²(π/4)=m-1

m(1/2)+(1/2)=m-1

m+1=2(m-1)

m+1=2m-2

-m=-3

m=3

Therefore

m=2 or 3
