2x² + 3x = - 1 ( add 1 to both sides )

2x² + 3x + 1 = 0 ← in standard form

Equate each factor to zero and solve for x

x + 1 = 0 ⇒ x = - 1

2x + 1 = 0 ⇒ 2x = - 1 ⇒ x = - 0.5
