Answer:

x=3 is the axis of symmetry

The vertex is (3,-16)

Explanation:

y = x^2 - 6x-7

I will find the zeros

0 = (x-7)(x+1)

The zeros are 7,-1

The axis of symmetry is 1/2 way between the zeros

(-1+7)/2 = 6/2 = 3

x=3

The vertex is at x=3

y = (3-7)(3+1)

= -4(4) = -16

The vertex is (3,-16)
