Population growth at a global level is defined as the constant increase in the number of people living on our planet, caused mainly by the existence of greater numbers of births than deaths year after year.

This population growth has direct negative consequences on the planetary ecosystem and its stability, while through overpopulation and excessive consumption of planetary resources the limit of our planet's carrying capacity is reached.
