Let’s rewrite the given equation by adding 81 to both sides:

x^2 - 18x + 81= 65 + 81

(x - 9)^2 = 146
Taking the square root of both sides, we get

x - 9 = \pm√(146)
or

x = 9 \pm √(146) = 9 \pm 12.1 = 21.1\:\text{and}\:-3.1
